Quite naturally - seems like AFUDOS first loads the whole image from disk into RAM, and only then goes on to flash the image.Ħ40k should be enough for anybody, see? So you go on to load a memory manager. (One minor quirk I've discovered is that AFUDOS can't seem to load a BIOS image from the ramdisk device presented by Memdisk - but I could tolerate that.) Next, if you try to run AFUDOS pointed to the 2Meg BIOS image, without a XMS/EMS memory manager loaded, you get a simple message saying 'out of memory'. So I'm using either a USB mass storage device (flash stick) or a HDD image (of about 4 MB) for Memdisk. So you cannot use a physical floppy or a floppy image (ramdisk). That won't fit on a 1.44MB floppy by any chance. The BIOS image for this board is 2 MB large. I can boot it from a flash drive or via PXE+Memdisk. Over the last several years, my favourite DOS flavour is FreeDOS, 1.0 with some updates, such as JEMM (JEMMEX) the memory manager (MIMEM.SYS and EMM386 replacement). Which in this case is the AMI AFUDOS.EXE. For that, I'm using the old reliable way: I boot DOS and try to use the appropriate flashing util. Tech Points: 2 From: CZE Posted: 8:54:00 PM # 1 Dear everyone, I'm trying to upgrade BIOS in the P6T motherboard. Whenever I attempt to open Internet Explorer, Wordpad pops up with a message that states ' cannot run this program in DOS mode'. I think the BIOS in this board (K8V SE motherboard) isn't OK because i get bad BIOS checksum many times, while others it boots normally so i thought i.
